 | On Saturday, March 27th, 2010, Memphis lost a legend: Rendezvous founder, Charlie Vergos, 84 years old. We had already planned on going to The Rendezvous for dinner that night, but this made the trip even more momentous and important that we pay our respects. People from around the world come to the restaurant for the great, award winning barbecue and famous dry rub on the rack of ribs. The atmosphere outside was somber as the news spread and news crews reported on his death. Flowers and a large sign was placed outside the main door in the alley in memorial. |
We bought around 4 lbs of pulled pork, a rack of ribs and lots of cole slaw and baked beans. The food was wonderful as expected and I wouldn't expect anything less from a great restaurant like The Rendezvous.
Rest in Peace Charlie Vergos.
